BMW M5 Generations

The BMW M5 is one of the best models from BMW, it is the most powerful sedan in the world when it was launched and is based on the BMW 5 Series. Also, it was manufactured from 1985 to 1988. So far, BMW has produced and sold many M5s, this model reaching the 5th generation, the last one being the BMW F10 M5 that will enter the market in early 2012.

The BMW M5 models are: E28 BMW M5, E34 BMW M5, E39 BMW M5, E60 BMW M5(Sedan) / E61 (Touring), F10 BMW M5 (Sedan) 


The first model is the BMW M5 codenamed E28, which has appeared for the first time at the Amsterdam Motor Show in 1984. It is based on the BMW 5 Series and is powered with 286hp under the bonnet from its 3.5 liter engine. At that time of occurrence, it was ranked as the fastest sedan in the world. The production of the E28 M5 was finished in 1988 making it up to the next generation E34 BMW M5.


The second generation is the E34 BMW M5 which began its production in 1989, it was assembled in Garching, Germany, and was available with two transmission alternatives, namely 5 and 6 speed manual. At first it used the 3.6 liter engine with an output of 315hp, and since 1991 has been changed to one of 3.8 liters and the power increased to 340hp was built. The production stopped in 1995 and his successor is the E39 BMW M5 that is the 3rd generation of the BMW M5.
The BMW M5 E39 is the 3rd generation and one of the most popular M5 in the world having a lot of fans. It used 5 liter V8 engine with a power engine no more and no less than 400 horses. This model was produced between 1998 and 2003.
The BMW M5 E60 is the 4th generation M5 made between 2005-2010 and had a nuclear bomb under the hood, namely a 5-liter V10 engine with an output of 507hp. The transmission was available in 6 speed manual and 7 speed automatic (SMG).






The latest generation of BMW M5 BMW is the F10 BMW M5 that has a very innovative look, he uses a 4.4liter V8 engine with an output of 555 horses. He appeared in 2011 and will enter the market in early 2012.
